WASTE
MANAGER is a multi user software package, designed for use by
companies who provide Waste Management services.
It consists of a range of fully integrated software modules providing
various functionalities including Job Processing, Run Management,
Job Despatch, Carrier Payment, Debtors and Invoicing, Rating, and
many others.
WASTE MANAGER can also be seamlessly integrated with advanced
technologies such as automatic in-vehicle and portable Mobile Data,
Weighing Devices, Satellite Tracking, Digital Mapping, Email, Fax,
Automated Telephone Booking (IVR) and Pager systems.
WASTE MANAGER has been specifically built for the Waste Management
industry using the same proven, scalable architecture used in Software
Integrators TRANSPAC Transport Management System. TRANSPAC has been
successfully operating in many small to medium transport companies
throughout Australia and New Zealand for over 15 years and 24 hours

What
sort of computers & networks can WASTE MANAGER run on?
WASTE MANAGER
can operate on a wide range of industry standard INTEL based computers.
A server computer with the UNIX operating system is required to
run WASTE MANAGER server software and database.
WASTE MANAGERis easily connected to a network of existing windows
based PC's and printers. This helps to protect the investment in
a company's existing hardware and software and allows them to continue
to use existing systems whilst getting the many benefits from a
purpose built software package like WASTE MANAGER.
Customers, branches, management and agents at remote sites can also
be easily connected to WASTE MANAGER.

How
WASTE MANAGER works
The
WASTE MANAGER system has features and functions that allow
waste management companies to automate their manual or semi manual
operational tasks.
WASTE
MANAGER improves the efficiency and accuracy of the processing
of data because activities such as job maintenance, job despatch
and run management are fully integrated with back office activities
such as customer billing, carrier payment, job costing and inquiry
handling as a result of entering one transaction. The errors
and double handling associated with manual systems are eliminated
and access to timely, useful information is made easy.
An overview of how the WASTE MANAGER system works is
provided below. |

Customer, carrier, vehicle, service, rate and site location details
including addresses, contacts, map references, etc are set up and
maintained using a number of easy to use maintenance functions included
in the System Manager module (shown below).

A
master record for each contracted or regular run is created. Each
customer site is then placed into the appropriate run and sequenced
accordingly using the Run Processing module.
A template record
with details of each contracted or regular job including the run
it belongs to, the service to be provided, what days of the week
and on what recurring cycle (e.g. weekly, fortnightly, 3 times a
month, monthly, etc) the task is to be done, is entered using the
Job Processing module (shown below).

Run
sheets, listing tasks (e.g. pickups) to be done by each driver/vehicle
are printed daily. As drivers complete each job on the run, they
record the number of bins emptied, equipment serviced, etc and note
any variations compared with what was contracted to be done. Sample
of report is shown below.
The
drivers subsequently return the run sheets and each run is updated
and closed off using the specifically designed, easy to use, Run
Maintenance function (screen sample shown below). This function
also allows users to quickly and efficiently carry out job and run
inquiries.

All
ad-hoc or non-regular (i.e. bulk) job details are keyed into WASTE
MANAGER using the Job Processing module (shown below). This
module includes specifically designed functionality to efficiently
cater for bin deliveries, pickups and changeovers, cash collection,
map referencing, street location quick look up, council regulations,
etc. In addition, facilities to handle on hire, re hire and off
hire requirements are also provided for contract work and/or equipment
hire and storage.
Ad-hoc
jobs are automatically displayed on an operators screen via the
Job Despatch module. Jobs awaiting allocation can be filtered, grouped
and sorted in a number of ways.
Facilities for managing the allocation of jobs and monitoring the
status and location of drivers and vehicles are also provided. For
example, the Job Despatch module automatically alerts the operator,
at job allocation time, if a vehicle is unsuitable for a type of
service and whether the vehicle has the capacity to carry the load.
In addition, the fleet controller's task of allocating
work and controlling a fleet can be greatly assisted by implementing
the advanced technology associated with the Search and Select and
Recommended Carrier modules.
Operations
staff can print activity and exception reports using the Operational
Reporting module.
The Rating module automatically calculates customer charges and
sub contractor payments. Debtor and sub contractor accounts are
also automatically updated. Any number and variety of services for
primary and secondary charges (e.g. extra weight, overloads, hazardous
materials, etc) can be set up. Facilities for creating schedules,
discounts, minimum charges, automatic up rating and client specific
rates are provided.
Drivers can update their locations and update run and job details,
in real time, as they complete their tasks, via the mobile data
equipment. Options to allow on site, automatic capture of weights,
printing of receipts and processing credit card payments can be
implemented as extensions to mobile data.
WASTE MANAGER can be used in conjunction with a range of
in vehicle or portable mobile data equipment via the Mobile Data
Interface module. This allows run and job related details to be
transmitted and displayed electronically on mobile data equipment
'in the field' and eliminates the need for printing daily run sheets
or sending instructions by voice.
Invoices
and customer activity reports can be faxed and or emailed using
the Invoice Fax and Email Interface modules.
Customers and branch offices can place orders, monitor run/job progress
and service queries using the Internet Booking/Tracking and Customer
Service module.
In addition, modules for Sales Analysis reporting, processing electronically
received data (EDI/File Transfer) and Archiving previous period
data are also available.
